Cosy Witch Book (Brutal) is the product of a lot of things, but can most easily be summed up by: my hatred and love of the movie Practical Magic. Gorgeous film! Some great audiovisual sequences! Also some absolute stinkers. Garbage terrible plot delivery. It makes me feel a monumental combination of appeal and almost insulted disgust—is that all you think a woman who likes texture and roses wants to feel? Is that really the same Aidan Quinn from Desperately Seeking Susan? Cosy Witch Book (Brutal) is my attempt to articulate every problem I have with every half-assed descriptive criticism of women’s genre fiction and also with every half-assed execution of the same.
